Mission-driven video · Concept to final grade
I produce, direct, shoot, and edit video for institutions: fundraising films, impact documentaries, brand and recruitment pieces, and the formats that carry them to the audiences that matter.
Selected work
Every piece here started with a communications goal: raise money, show impact, recruit, or reach a new audience. Most were produced solo, from first interview to final color.
Films built to move donors, alumni, and friends to act. Emotion first, ask second, always tied to a campaign goal.
Interview-driven stories that show what an institution does in the world, told through the people doing it.
A consistent visual voice across campaigns, with pieces cut for the audiences they need to reach.
Room to experiment: recurring series and short-form ideas that still serve a clear communications goal.
Process
Clear objectives up front, a consistent visual voice throughout, and finishing that holds up on every screen. Creative ambition in service of the message, never in place of it.
Start from the goal and the audience. Find the person whose story carries the message.
Treatments, outlines, and interview questions shared in advance so subjects arrive ready.
Interviews with non-professional talent: students, faculty, donors, community members, leaders.
Camera, lighting, and clean location audio, in studio or in the field.
Premiere Pro and transcript-based cutting. Rhythm and feeling over coverage.
Color in DaVinci Resolve, audio mix, motion graphics, and captions for every platform.
Campaign films, recurring series, events, and social content running in parallel on one calendar.
Shared core footage cut into versions for different constituencies, so each audience hears a message built for them.
Organized, shareable projects and assets, licensed music, and repeatable templates a team can build on.

“An image works on you before you can say why. My job is to make sure it works for the mission.”
I came to filmmaking through film studies and documentary, and spent my early career cutting broadcast commercials, where every second had to earn its place. That combination still shapes how I work: story first, clear objectives, and a finish that respects the audience.
For the past several years I’ve been the filmmaker behind much of University of Redlands’ video library, covering giving campaigns, program documentaries, brand films, recruitment, and social series. Most of it I concept, shoot, cut, and grade myself, which means the visual voice stays consistent from the first frame to the last.
I’m looking for a team where video carries a public mission, and where that kind of range is useful.
